Having worked in the aerospace environment in the Air Force, having had engineers work for me, and after reading lots of reviews, I selected Waldi's antenna for my installation. From the photos of the antenna on his web page, and the compelling reviews written by others, primarily European owners, I decided that was the choice for me. Waldi worked with me to provide delivery at a time that fit my schedule (we were traveling through the southwest in our motorhome) to ensure I'd be there for delivery. Shipping naturally took some time, as the antenna is manufactured in Poland of very high quality components. When the two boxes arrived, I checked for damage - and none was found. The image above shows the contents, including the 7.1 meter mast Waldi offers, which I chose to ensure a proper fit with the Hex Beam. Another benefit of the mast is that it has provisions for attaching guy ropes, while allowing the mast to rotate freely. That was worth the cost, as trying to rotate the mast otherwise could provide a challenge in finding the appropriate parts. The mast is made of excellent quality aluminum, is very light weight, and very strong. It comes with an "earth screw" for portable use, letting you use it for field day/portable activities, should you choose. Assembly is super simple. It took about half an hour to install the fiberglass tubes, support wires, and the actual wire elements. Everything fit nicely, and the instructions were clear. The base plate appears to be made of aeronautical quality aluminum, and the blocks holding the fiberglass support poles are also of apparent aeronautical quality materials. The fit and finish on all the parts was precise. Did I mention it's very light weight?? Heading out to the antenna field to install it. This will be my Hex Beam's new home.
